'The Field Guide to Evil' is een omnibusfilm rond duistere folklore. Verhalen over bezetenheid en vloeken worden afgewisseld met verhalen over liefde, lust en jaloezie. Door alle tijden heen zijn de gemeenschappen gefascineerd en bang voor zulke mythen en volksverhalen, die de basis vormen voor wat tegenwoordig het horrorgenre wordt genoemd. 'Al Karisi' verhaalt over de gelijknamige kwaadaardige geest waarvan velen geloven dat deze het op zwangere vrouwen heeft gemunt. 'Die Trud' linkt naar een Oostenrijkse overlevering en speelt zich af in de achttiende eeuw. Het segment zet meisjes en verboden liefde centraal en gaat over monsters die personen verstikken in hun slaap. 'Island of the Devourer of Souls' is een bijna volledig non-verbale korte film die zich afspeelt in het Oost-Pruisen van 1850. Voor sommigen staan daar menselijke harten op het menu.
